The Odyssey
Read Book 1 in 3 stages
·      Stage 1 – scan for names and setting (places/times), highlight names in pink and settings in green
·      Stage 2 – Block off dialogue, write name of character speaking at the top
·      Stage 3 – Read all of Book 1 slowly and carefully!  Highlight the flow of thought in yellow.  Stop after each section (see below) and write a brief 2-5-sentence narration of that section (explain what is going on).  If you have trouble writing your narration, go back and read the section again.

  3. Just to clarify...older kids are reading Ovid's Metamorphosis and younger kids are reading the same stories in DeAulaires. Let me know if you have any more questions. Mrs. Rape

  5. Oh and miss Cathy, i Highlighted half of the odyssey with last years method during the summer and only today did i see the different highlighting and method. Are you okay with me sticking to the old method or would you rather me put the little summaries for each small section?
